On a related topic, the Google donate box on the portal page isn't working for me - I get a 404. I guess I'm not the only person who gets an urge to send some cash when we see all this work being done (and components being bought).
I know you have plenty to cope with Terry so this is just another item for your list!

Hope the hardware issues are solvable with not too much effort and costs Terry.
I do appreciate all the efforts and would send you money if I had any to spare.
Maybe I can mail some cookies instead sometime

Re: Server Reset Request Thread
good news is, I confirmed the drive heads and motors are fine. It's blown control boards. Bad news is I don't have those models. However the drives are under warranty and WD has shipped me new drives...the shipping details list them as the exact same model and revision, so I should be able to swap out the control boards and bring the drives up. But it'll be around wednesday.

Re: Server Reset Request Thread
And just FYI, I'm already planning how to make sure this doesn't happen again. I'm going to move the backup system to an external array. I happen to have a external 4 drive SATA raid array. It supports raid 10 and I have 4 2TB brand new drives that will work great in it. It's more foolproof. Also I'm going to put a process in place to send me an alert if the external copy fails. Yes hindsight is a great thing.
