I know lots of you here in our Arkaz community are very talented and also might be able to use a little take-home cash. 8)

I was recently introduced (via one of the companies for which I work) to a very interesting website called 99designs.com where companies go and post about themselves and what they are looking for, be it logos, business cards, websites, stationary, etc etc. Each company looking to find a design runs a contest for a set amount of time with a posted 'reward' for the winner! I'm sure the website has all the 'nitty gritty' of how it works, but that's what I know about it in a nutshell. 8)

These kinds of things are actually really awful for the artists. If you wanted a carpenter to build your house, would you ask fifty different ones to build houses using their own time and resources and say you'll pay only the best one?

This does a good job explaining why this is dumb.

I'm sure the people who hate the idea won't participate or use the company.

LOL oh yeah no offense taken, just figured I'd educate. Stuff like this is the reason we have "starving artists," people think we just sneeze and art happens and it's not "real work" and stuff. My dad sends me stuff like this all the time. :p
