Forum upgrade

As some of you may have noticed (.. okay, all of you I expect

), we've upgraded the forums to phpBB3. This brings in a number of new features and while the forums now looks pretty different they did before, hopefully it won't take too much to get used to the new style. I'm working to restore some of the previous features which existed, such as links to the wiki/downloads/bugtracker, etc.

Edit:
- Uploaded avatars have been restored as well but you may find some of them have been resized. Re-upload/enter the URL of/select from the gallery your avatar and it will fix it.

Very nice Thor... took me completely offguard though this morning. Thought I had gone to the wrong website cause i got so used to seeing that big crab picture at the top lol :)

LOL, just fyi phpbb3 has a ton of features. One nice featuer is the ability to create sub folders and rules in your PMs.

For example, I created a From Team folder. Next I created a rule that tells the system to send any PMs I receive from members in the Team Member usergroup into that folder. Kinda like email rules.

Now we will be adjusting and changing and perhaps even changing the style as we go...so things might change a little.

Wiki is still giving the "Internal Error" message on any player characters with an apostrophe in their names.

That one is unrelated to the forum - and unfortunately doesn't seem to want to fix itself. But I have another idea in mind for sorting that issue while I'll try to get on later.

The only oddity is in the postings copied over. It is taking an apostropy and substituting other characters for it.

I think that one is down to the UTF8 conversion - I''ll try to run a query to fix that later.. I hope anyway

I found a problem. Almost all of Noor's journal entries are cut off.

If this means that each entry has a limited amount of space to post, that's fine. I just need to know that. However, is there any way to retrieve this lost information?

I wrote down the dates of the incomplete entries. To my eye, there isn't a pattern as to why. If I counted correctly, 31 out of 54 entries are incomplete.

I think - but not 100% sure - that this may also be down to the character encoding issue.

I'm going to run something locally and attempt to fix the issue, re-covert all the posts again, verify if it all worked correctly, and then import the data. Thankfully I have backups! None of this requires me the forum to go offline either and none of the newer posts will be lost.

I'll keep you all posted.
