OK!

So, I got the required files (although I don't seem to have a portraits folder, and the icon file link seems to be broken...) And, I got a copy of NWN Diamond from GOG. I got the legit keys from them and put them in the file they belong in.

I figured out how to use Direct Link, I think, but... the "Server Refused my Player Name."

What did I do wrong?
Player name identical to my screen name- "Chastened Phoenix."

The old NWN master server is gone and was replaced by Alpha, please send me your player name and I can add you Alpha

Chastened Phoenix. Same as my screen name.

Oh and when your partner gets home, have them submit the same information to Zandel. He's the keeper of the Alpha Server.

Right! Heh, gonna have to set them up completely.

So... sorry to be a pain, but...

First off, the "needed files" list in the wiki doesn't include the avlis files needed for the alpha server. (found and installed them fine, but figured I'd mention it.)

Second, despite installing everything needed as best I could see, I'm still apparently missing some stuff:

ah_creature_mdl.hak
ah_placeable2mdl.hak
arkaz_2da_204.hak (however, I do have "arkaz_2da_201.hak," is this a newer version of the same file?)
arkazhala_temp3.hak

I'm hoping this is a matter of my overlooking something obvious to folks who know what they're doing. If not, then I hope it can be figured out.

Either way... I'm so close to getting into this game again! Feeling pretty excited!

Got the links from the Hala Wiki, then doing a search here for arkaz_2da_204.hak (which wasn't on there's required files) found me mhogar's post.
