Cleaning script -- how does it work?

Hi!

Asking this here before bug reporting. If it -is- a bug, then I'll report where appropriate.

Last week, June 10 or 11 (well ok, 11, as it was past 4am EST <.< ), we were just done with an event and were gathered in the admiral place in LeVallon for the wrap-up. Laid down the loot and as we were discussing who would get what, the NPC worker pacing the place bent down and took a ring and a scroll. It hadn't been that long since the items were placed on the floor (I'd say no more than 5 minutes) and there were still PCs in the area when it happened.

So question is... is this part of the cleaning script? How does the script work?

Thanks guys! =)

This is not a bug, but is in fact a feature of Arkaz. NPCs as part of the cleanup script will pick up items they come across. This only occurs with Database spawned npcs, but take my advice. When splitting up your loot, do so in an area with no npcs.

No, it's not related to Database spawns, and it is not related to the general area cleanup script, which only runs when there are no PC's in an area. It happens with any NPC that is configured with ts_putter in their heartbeat event.

ts_putter is a script that has the NPC do various animations and activities like interact with usable placeables or pick up items dropped on the floor, vs. the default heartbeat script that just has them stand there like a lump or walk a patrol path if configured. This script is meant to make them more "realistic".

In the event an NPC picks up an item it will search for a usable container placeable to put the item into, within it's range, but if it cannot find a usable container placeable it will just keep the item on its person.

So, like Sam said, go someplace where NPC's are not doing various activities to divide up your loot (private inn rooms or cottages work well). This is not a bug. NPC's like shiny things too and if you drop it on the ground they assume it is trash and you don't want it.

The doju in the tea shop is a safe place to lay out good as is the back room training area in the military head quarters. Both places have plenty of room and np npc. :)
