Okays, the ground in Virginia isn't supposed to bounce up and down like that.
We just had a (relatively minor, I'm sure) earthquake here. I imagine people in LA wouldn't even blink an eyelash at one this size, but we're not used to this sort of thing! (I'd like to see how they deal with a foot of snow sometime!)
I thought a plane was crashing on our building. Everyone ran outside to be safe. It wasn't till after things had calmed down that they realized they were all standing in the parking lot, right under the electrical wires!

Real safe

Update:
Apparently the quake measured 5.8 so, not so minor. It was centered about 30 miles from where I am now. They felt it as far away as Washington DC (100 miles or so farther north). Some serious damage in Ashland (small town nearest the epicenter). More details as they warrant.

Just got ruled as 5.9, not a clue how much that makes a difference.
Almost sad we didn't get to see a Grab-oid pop out of the ground.
Joking aside, everyone around here seems safe and sound. We'll hope and pray everyone was so fortunate.

Not sure about phone service when we get home. Just tried to call home and got a busy signal and not sure if the lines are down or just over loaded with people trying to call in.
Will try to update if we have internet when I get home. Legion outing may be postoned.

Update on phone, was able to get through and get the answering machine. Our poor kitties are probably scared to death.

Heck, I even felt it up here in the Hudson Valley, NY - A fault line runs near here.

Wonder if it was related?
Ours was felt as far west as Ohio and up north in Toronto.

We're still on for tonight as far as the Legion. Thankfully, it seems we don't have any damage.
