Group Adventures

Sorry gang, there was a bit of lost communication yesterday in the ring quest.
I believe there were seven of us in that little run and only two mages who could cast spells with duration and power enough to do a lot of good.
I know it is OOC information but there were really only four there that could take out the golems without a DP and I tend to concentrate on the fighters with Sonja. I give them the buffs primarily and combat protections first. Like Nerice with all those levels of barb got a major militant bonus on Sonja buffs.
Sonja is my first casting character ever even prior to the Baulder’s Gate series. She has spell limitations in both duration and number. I tried to spread them around as well to where we would have the greatest chance for success. Spells like GMW and Flame Weapon are the same level and so casting on a single weapon takes 2 spells per weapon. Her 9 or 10 spells disappear real quick that way. I even look at a character like Nerice and will not use the extended version because militant bonus will more than take care of that.
I cast improved invisibility on several, as did Aiko and we did not have enough for true seeing, which is not needed after the first attack. I also loose track on the chat window and miss some requests for buffs, trust me I was not ignoring a request, I just missed it as I tried to keep track of what I and Aiko cast on the people involved. Please feel free to send me a tell if I miss something as it will really stand out in the screen.
Thanks Amby for mentioning last night that if someone is invisible that they cannot be heard. Party chat would take care of that during prep time prior to the first encounter. If it really bothers someone to not see where everyone is there are common drops of a ring and potions to compensate for the brief time we are blind to one another.
After the initial buffing Sonja had no spells left to cast from level 2 to level 6. I had exhausted all her spells at that point.
I also understand RP is important in a group of any size but remember, each minute after a buff is cast is a minute less in duration. So if chatting is needed it should either be prior to casting or just after a rest for the mages.
This is not aimed at anyone and if I am doing something wrong please let me know. Sonja has been in a lot of group fights as a self and group buffing mage. These groups, including the C.O. were all business once the prep was done. All the talking and planning was done before hand and everyone knew their role. She is also a recruit on Avlis in Le’Nof, which is a group that is taking the war to the Drotid.
A lot of it is becoming familiar with the preferences and tactics of others as well. Sonja does not adventure much because of her level. She will with Aiko or Michi or a few others but not most of this group from last night. I know she makes spawns that would have pwned most there and your character going to bleeding is no fun for you, so I tend to avoid it for the most part. Also asking for Sonja to take you to the Spider Lord, unless you are epic would be too much like towing for me. It may not be viewed that way by our team but I prefer to error on the side of caution.
So I now open the thread for general discussion. Please post on this as it will help me better understand your views.
