Request for feedback: NPCs that give directions

There are already NPCs that give directions, but I was considering adding more. From an IC standpoint, you should be able to ask random NPCs for directions (although some might brush you off), but DMs aren't always there to make them react.
What are some locations you think it would make sense for NPCs to give directions to?
Additionally, is there anything else that you think NPCs should tell people?

As a visitor to Arkaz, I still am not sure of the way to Hero's Walk from Nuvar or Port LeVallan. Directions to major "cities" would be helpful. Also, perhaps directions to landmarks or some information about certain landmarks would be helpful.
Just a suggestion. I can finally mostly now get around Hala.

Still learning Arkaz though.

Words of warning about certain very dangerous areas (whatever those may be) would be nice, too. I have to presume if enough people are known to have died there, the NPCs might pick up on it and be willing to tell people to avoid the place. Then some people will go to purposefully seek trouble and others will avoid it
Alas, I can't think of any specifics.

just fyi, there are a few signs around that point you toward the towns. Good feedback though, keep it coming.

I found a very good (I thought) "newbie" quest that took me from Nuvar to Heroes Walk and back. Between the directions the NPC gave and the signs, I didn't have much in the way of a problem getting there and back. I think I only turned around twice. Something similar for other cities would be fun. (Of course, I haven't yet talked with /every/ NPC, so that might already be in game.)
Also, I have found a couple of quests that take me to seashore, but haven't yet figured out how to get there. Maybe it is farther then the quest NPC's imply? One suggestion might be to have some NPC's give directions to the beaches.
The other thing that I ran into was not knowing that Nuvar was the best boat I wanted to take as a newbie. Happily, I was directed by another player. That first scribe you see in Grubbins might be perfect for a "places you must see as a new arrival" type of NPC.
As I wander around, I will let you know. Those are just my "first day" impressions. 8)

I ran into a few NPC's that brushed me off in various ways when I asked for directions. They told me to go find Jared Brinson if I wanted information around town or directions. I loved this, as it let me keep exploring and asking around until I found Jared.
I found him, logically, near one of the gates in Old Hamlet. However, when I asked him, his answer was:
Jared Brinson: Theres not much to find at the moment while the hamlet is being rebuilt after the Maker's attack
I would say that his script might be a great one for an update, as you are looking for places to update information like this, and there are mechanics in the game already in place to direct people to him. 8)

Great observation on Jared! I think updating him as the main "go to" guy would be terrific place to start.

*grins* Or could be foreshadowing?
I think that most of the ideas for directions were covered. Perhaps adding directions to the inns and the cottage rentals?

Thanks for the feedback re: Jared. When the current batch of changes go in, he'll actually give people directions.
