Player Housing & You

Player Housing is fine as is. I wouldn't change a thing.

Player Housing is not fine as is, though it only needs some minor changes.

Player Housing: Poll

Post by ForsakenPlague » Tue Apr 03, 2012 11:45 am

We try our best to listen to you, the players, about what you enjoy-what makes the world worth logging into. That's why I'm dragging up and out the dreaded horse-lich that is Player Housing. We may institute a few changes depending on what feedback you provide.

Please be honest, please be nice, and after participating in the poll, please elaborate below! If you want changes, we need to know both what and why.

the minor change i,d like to see is and is'nt related to housing but crafting. if thier was a "miners pick"
or "crafting pick" that anyone could use (weapon properties removed so anyone could equip it). that may induce more players to 1. build a house 2. craft. as it is (and i'm not coming from the poor me side of this but from a players view) to ask someone to give up a feat just they can craft is a little extreme. (ok i hate to use gus as an example but this applies to anyone with a pure rogue or a toon that can't equip a pick).

and i have read the thread on char dvelopment and ig actions vs power building
gus is a rogue a burglar specificly his chief skills are based on that proffesion. when he levels up what is more "ic" for him to take when a feat (and we all know you get precious few of them) comes up for selection?
A. a skill related to those he already practices pick lock, hide, move silently , etc. or B. a weapon feat just so he can bash at deposits? .. i have emoted with him several times his lack of ability to swing a pick when he see's a ruby or sapphire deposit just laying thier and he can't touch it (ic as a thief and a greedy bastard you bet your butt he would take them if he could get them out) and gem cutting is something ic'lly he would do.(thief? shiny? valuable? need i say more?) so thats my only gripe about housing/crafting (and ic'lly as well he would mine his own iron as well as it's an means to an end ,i.e. his house)
not complaining just sayin
as a solution (since i'm not gonna dump and run) hala has codes for mining maces that anyone can equip regardless of class feat restrictions . we could use that as template for the tool if they'll share the code of corse.

We'll let this run for a few more days. Again, if you voted, please post some comments below so we know what, if anything, should be changed.

I've mentioned this elsewhere, but will also post here as well for general discussion and thoughts.

Voting that overall the system is fine, but a few minor (though might be considered major) changes could be introduced to make the process less painful on the more casual, less crafting motivated characters who don't have friends in the right places to gather materials.

NPCs which sell some of the basic required materials at a cost much higher than an established market value. Items sold at these NPC would include Iron and Bronze ingots, Wooden planks, and Granite blocks, the items needed in massive quantities. I wouldn't want to see all the housing materials available for purchase, such as Oak planks or Platinum ingots.
