The role of Battle Mage normally falls to the most combat experienced Mage of Nuvar. This Mage is the second ranking Senior Mage of Nuvar. The Battle Mage also holds the rank of Commander in the Nuvarian Army and the holder of this title is the ranking Mage during combat. Only the order of the Archmage of Nuvar can override a decision made by the Battle Mage During combat.
