Current

Miranda was once a highly respected and influential mage in Nuvar. Relatively recently, she was banished from the mage school for her participation in the ritual ascending Jarmanis to godhood. She has not been seen in Nuvar for months.

History

Miranda was born in Arkaz, on the isle of Arvia. After hearing about the Nuvar School of Magic, she traveled to Nuvar and joined the school within a week of her arrival. She was quickly taken by Ronan Ceril as his apprentice and became absorbed in school life and mage politics.

During her time at the school, she contributed to numerous defense and research projects in Nuvar, including her work in runic translation during the Keivick war and research to help cure the Burning Death plague. She led a number of electric-infused undead during the final battle of the Keivick war, participated in a plague-ending cleansing ritual held in Ocean's Edge, and helped counterspell the dracolich Nithhogr during the battle to protect Nuvar's worldstone. She fought extensively against the cult of Xanis and was kidnapped and held hostage for a month before her rescue by Nuvarian adventurers.

She was arrested once on charges of murder but was released and cleared of all charges after her trial.

Recently, she has worked against the Rising Eclipse in battles and offensive scrying. She has assisted with construction of a number of heat-producing arcane pillars to remove the effects of the cold, most notably one in the graveyard near Heroes Walk, which bears her name carved into the supports.

Recently, along with her master and his bodyguard, she was banished from the Nuvar School of Magic for her secret participation in the ritual which killed a child and raised Jarmanis to godhood. She was forced to submit to a Geas following a conviction from the Council of Nuvar, but has not been seen on the islands in months.

She has been in a relationship with Zachary Jor'dre for more than ten years, though their relationship post-banishment is unknown.

Appearance

When she arrived on Nuvar, using the name "Andy," Miranda was a thin and rough-edged girl with a heavy "cobalt" slum accent. She has grown and changed much since her arrival and is now much more calm and controlled, a little overweight but much more healthy in appearance.

Miranda is not an overly beautiful girl. She has a round face, plain features, and often-tired eyes. Her skin is pale and heavily freckled, her eyes are cold grey, and her hair is ginger red and long, though she usually keeps it up out of her face in a plain and functional style.

Her clothing usually errs towards plain and functional as well, though she seems to have a weakness for ruffles and runework. She has no piercings but wears an amulet and a number of rings. On her right hand, she wears a ring decorated with a dragon curling around a rose. On her left hand, she wears a carved-bone and iron ring bearing the image of a skull with rubies set in its eyes. She also carries a staff spiked with thorns and topped with a bronze rose, and owns a distinctive and ancient-looking black spellbook with silver finishing and runework on the cover.

Her left arm is skeletal and inscribed with ornate necromantic runework in shimmery dark metal, with a large onyx stone set into the back of her left hand. Despite all of the work, no additional auras are felt from this; whatever it is seems to be either decorative or inactive.

Miranda is not a particularly graceful girl and tends to move in as simple and efficient a way as possible, except when casting, which she seems confident with.
