History
The son of Pelagia and Dertmore, Jaeger is known as the Lord of the Hunt. This child embodies the darkest and most violent aspects of both his parents. He is the predator for the sake of the kill.
Jaeger understands that Nature is ruled equally by random chance and natural law. He has no interest in protecting the weak. The weak will either grow strong and become worthy of his attention, or die forgotten and unwanted.
Jaeger is cruel and can be excessive in the demands he makes upon his followers or the punishment he metes out. The weak and dull will be culled. The strong and clever will be rewarded. He expects his followers to be deviously intelligent and ruthlessly strong while still maintaining discipline. Lycans are favored and encouraged to hone their gifts and strengthen their willpower so they can control all of their forms.
There is a secret dark grove that is Jaeger’s shrine. Followers will bring offerings from their kills such as hearts or blood. His followers are forbidden to kill children or the pregnant. To honor Jaeger, a sacrifice must have posed an actual threat to the individual performing the sacrifice. A high druid killing a deer for sacrifice and not sustenance risks punishment for cowardice. Such repeated actions may even risk a Blood Hunt. Sacrifices may also be performed using the body of the kill as an altar.
Jaeger's faithful occasionally calls for the celebration of a Hunt to appease their god. These Hunts can take can on different aspects.
The Hunts of Jaeger
Followers of Jaeger are known to take part in several hunts.
The Hunt
A follower declares to the god that he will travel an area of land and either kill all (hostile) creatures he meets or a certain type of (hostile) creature such as only arachnids. This should be a challenge to the faithful.
The Faith Hunt
A follower prays for a worthy adversary and is answered by the god. He becomes both the hunter and the hunted as he and this divinely sent creature hunt each other. This is most often performed by his druids or rangers but is not restricted to them.
The Dark Hunt
This can only be called by Jaeger's highest ranking druid. For this, they select one of the most powerful of the nonfaithful community and ask them to stand as the hunted. If this individual agrees and is successful in evading and/or defeating the hunters, they will be granted a boon by Jaeger's church. (It must be noted that anyone who helps this selected prey will join the Dark Hunt as additional prey but will not earn a boon.)
The Blood Hunt
It can only be called by Jaeger himself and is the purest reflection of the god’s wrath. Only the intervention of Dertmore or Pelagia may halt it. It is comprised mostly of powerful werecreatures and led by a champion of Jaeger as the Hunt Master. The Blood Hunt is rarely called and is usually set upon those who have not only offended Jaeger but managed to offend Dertmore and/or Pelagia as well.
